Virginia Cazares: Member of the Month

virginia 2 This month CrossFit Tidal Wave would like to honor Virginia Cazares with the Member of the Month Spotlight. Virginia not only is one of the hardest workers we have here, she also goes the extra mile to help other members push themselves just a little bit further (normally via 5k Runs). So congratulations Virginia! We are proud to call you a member of the Tidal Wave community ! virginia 3 So, what brought you to CrossFit ? The gym I was going to closed and I was looking for another gym. I had a few friends already going to Tidal Wave and I had also heard all the great things about CrossFit. I decided to and try it for myself and I was hooked. I thought I was in pretty good shape because I run quite a bit. I was very wrong. I was pretty sore the first week. What made you stay? Experienced coaching that explains the workout in every class in great detail while making sure we do all the movements correctly. I love that I don’t have to plan my workout as our coach does it for us. There are so many positive people to encourage you to keep going. How long have you been CrossFitting? A little over 2 years. I am so glad I did the two day trial. What are some of your goals? To attend 4 days a week minimum without fail.  To do Pull Ups unassisted and to polish my Power Snatch and Overhead Squat.  The Barbell technique class has helped me a lot ! virginia 7 Milestones ? Signing up for the 2016 CrossFit Open. I was really nervous and surprised myself by doing things I had no idea I was capable of. virginia 1 Benefits you have noticed? CrossFit helped bring to my attention that I would never push myself hard enough to make the changes I really needed to without some coaching. I am in the best shape I have ever been in right now and CrossFit Tidal Wave has helped me get there. What do you do out there in the real world? I love my job! I am a surgical technologist at UTMB. Your favorite WOD? The Murph ! Also any workout that involves running. virginia 4 Biggest CrossFit Accomplishment? I am very proud that I can do the WOD’s as prescribed most of the time now. virginia 5 Anything to add? I am so glad that I gave CrossFit a chance instead of listening to all the negativity about CrossFit.  I had a handful of people telling me “Don’t do it! It is dangerous!”. I am so glad I made my own decision. The group is all about fun. We laugh before and after the workouts and surprising ourselves each class with what we are capable of. We are stronger than we think !]]>
